Are you responsible?

As I get older, I find that being in charge of making all the decisions is a gift worth cherishing. I have a harder time NOT being the one responsible for what happens in my life.

Granted, we cannot always be in control of everything that goes on, and that is also a good thing.
Thus, why don’t some of us want to be responsible?  I guess that it is easier to say that something happened to us rather than we somehow allowed it to happen.  The reality is that no matter how whatever it is happened the fact is that it did.  Trying to blame someone else puts it outside of us, and we end up not benefiting from the lesson to its fullest extend.
Having said that, we will in time learn that if the experience leaves us unchanged and the same as always, the lesson will be repeated until we get it.  At some point, we do learn our lesson I hope. Life is full of responsibilities, so the sooner we accept that the better off we will be.  I do not look forward taking the same lesson again and again!
I like this quote by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer: “Appreciate everything and everyone. Look upon every experience you’ve ever had, and everyone who’s ever played any role in your life, as having been sent to you for your benefit. In this universe, which was created by a divine, organizing intelligence, there are simply no accidents.”  Go ahead and take pride in being responsible…unless you want to always be in the passenger’s seat…which is fine, but then you have to accept the outcome.  If you can live with that, you should have zero responsibility.  The question is: Do you want to drive or go along for the ride?  At least, take responsibility on deciding that!
